Karen Leland, Consultant

Karen has over 25 years experience as a marketing and management consultant. During the course of her career, she has consulted and spoken for Fortune 500 clients and associations around the globe including: AT&T, Marriott Hotels, Apple, Microsoft, Banana Republic, Bank of America, The United States Postal Service, The American Management Association, The Young Presidents’ Organization, The Direct Marketing Association and many more.

In addition, she has helped hundreds of authors, entrepreneurs and small businesses use the power of PR and social media to get their messages across, build their brands and establish themselves as thought leaders in their fields.

In her capacity as a professional freelance writer Karen has penned over 300 articles for a wide variety of magazines and newspapers including: Self, Woman’s Day, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Los Angeles Times, Via, AARP, Entrepreneur Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, Hemispheres, Sales and Marketing Magazine, Incentive, Spirituality & Health and others.

In addition to her work as a book author, Karen has written advertorial, catalog, marketing and public relations materials for a variety of public and private companies including: Inc. Magazine, Lufthansa German Airlines, Marriott Hotels, Oracle, American Express, Johnson & Johnson and others.

Karen is a go-to on-air expert for radio and television including: The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, Bloomberg, Oprah, the Ron Owens Show, Michael Jackson Talk Radio and others. She has worked as a freelance reporter for Comcast - writing segments as well as doing on-camera work.

She has worked as an actress with experience doing industrial films and voiceovers as well as performances on stages thought the Bay Area and Los Angeles including The Ross Valley Players, Sonoma Community Theatre and the Shelton Theatre. She is also an exhibiting mixed media artist whose work has been shown in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Triton Museum Of Art in Santa Clara, as well as other venues.

Karen lives in Marin County, California with her husband of 15 years Jon and her dog Penny. She has been known to belt out show tunes to anyone who will listen.
